Speedway Racing in Walkerville GPS co-ordinates 26°24'17" S / 27° 57'48" E
Walkerville Raceway - managed by Ansley Racing Promotions
and home of the Walkerville Speedway Riders Club
Speedway Racing has been operating since October 2006 at Walkerville Raceway. The Club has not only Speedway but also Sidecars, Pitbike Speedway, PeeWee Speedway and Quad Speedway.
WHAT IS SPEEDWAY?
NO BRAKES, NO GEARS, NO FEAR
The bike is a high compression 500cc single cylinder 4 valve engine with a 4 plate dry clutch. The fuel used is methanol
The bike is not allowed to weigh less than 80kg.
There are no brakes – only a clutch and an accelerator.
There is no gearbox and therefore the bike cannot idle, it needs to be revved lightly to idle. When standing still, the riders will lean the bike to the right hand side so that the back wheel can turn in the air, to stop the clutch overheating.
Sprockets can be changed – depending on the track length and surface.
The race consists of 4 laps and a maximum of 4 riders.
